关于我们
The National Association of Federal Veterinarians (NAFV) is a constituent body of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). It is recognized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as the representative organization for federally employed veterinarians and as an association of technical professionals, managers and supervisors. NAFV strives to serve both veterinarians and the federal agencies they work for by facilitating communication, making suggestions for improvements, and working collaboratively to address issues of concern. NAFV has always emphasized professionalism, expertise and fairness in the federal service, while providing continuing education, networking opportunities, legal counsel and support in career growth to all members. NAFV is now also an advocate for local, county and state animal health officials as well as our military veterinary force and students interested in veterinary regulatory, global health and food safety careers. We strive to be there for all involved in the veterinary regulatory world so we can work hard and with ease to safeguard our livestock, companion animals, farming industry and general public in our country. However “it takes a village” so the larger and louder our voice the more we are heard as well as the more we can support our members and general public as a whole. We wouldn’t be able to push forward without you and your support, so please become a member or sponsor of such a great organization promoting wellness and success for those in the veterinary profession that are ensuring our food is safe to eat, our friends and family are safe from emerging zoonotic diseases and animals are safe to travel abroad and back home. www.NAFV.org or [email protected]

We need to hear your feedback. Your comments will be accepted through May 15! The AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) whom NAFV is graciously apart of have been actively working to gather input on top-of-mind issues currently impacting the veterinary profession. Based on initial feedback received, there were two main themes that resonated: Professional Liability, AVMA Model Veterinary Practice Act and License Portability. The Model Veterinary Practice Act (MVPA) is undergoing a significant review. There are also substantial advancements occurring in veterinary technology in terms of the services and diagnostics we provide for our patients, our clients, and the public. Understanding your professional liability concerns now and into the future related to technology and the MVPA will help identify gaps that currently exist. What keeps you up at night when it comes to your professional liability? What questions or topics of interest do you have relative to professional liability insurance provided through the program sponsored by the AVMA Professional Liability Insurance Trust (AVMA PLIT)? What questions or topics of interest do you have related to potential legal liability in the course of professional veterinary practice? The AVMA Council on Veterinary Service has started reviewing the AVMA’s Model Veterinary Practice Act. We are seeking input from AVMA members regarding any identified gaps/needs you have noted. What are the pros/cons of identifying specific duties that veterinary technicians can perform with the appropriate level of supervision based on their education/certification? The current MVPA suggests that for a veterinarian (or veterinary technician) to be eligible to serve on the Board of Veterinary Medicine that they “shall have been a resident of the State for at least five years immediately preceding appointment.” With today’s mobile society, is this still reasonable? License portability is an ongoing concern. For a veterinarian or technician to be eligible for “licensure by endorsement” (meaning they have an active license in at least one other state and therefore should qualify for a streamlined licensing process in a new state), should there be a minimum required time that the individual has been practicing in the state in which they currently hold a license? We need to hear your feedback. Your comments will be accepted through May 15! https://lnkd.in/geaw_9wZ
