John Moon is a former Freedom House paramedic and retired Assistant Chief of Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Service. John was raised in Pittsburgh's Hill District and joined Freedom House, America’s First Emergency Medical Service, in 1972. He continued to work in emergency medicine for more than five decades and now works to preserve Freedom House legacy and mentor the next generation of emergency and community responders in Pittsburgh. Our hearts are heavy after last night’s tragic accident near Reagan National Airport. We extend our condolences to the families affected and our gratitude to the first responders for their tireless efforts.

NAEMSP proudly welcomes Douglas Kupas, MD, FAEMS, FACEP as its new president. Dr. Kupas began his term on Saturday, January 11, and will serve through the conclusion of the NAEMSP conference in 2027.

It is hard to put into words how incredible of a conference the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) Annual Meeting really is. The quality of science and presentations are high. The quality of the people there, is even higher. In 2019 when I attended thanks to winning the scholarship for first time professional attendees, I had no idea how much that opportunity would open up for me. #NAEMSP2025 may be over but I’m already setting my sights on #NAEMSP2026 and hopefully, producing some quality work for it myself. I’m thankful for all the incredible people who have made me feel a part of this amazing organization. If you’re interested in attending but have questions, feel free to reach out.
