?? Slam the Scam! ?? During National Consumer Protection Week, March 6 is Slam the Scam Day, which is dedicated to raising awareness about scams and how to avoid them. Scammers are constantly finding new ways to deceive and defraud consumers, so it's essential to stay informed and vigilant. The National Association of Attorneys General Center for Consumer Protection is committed to recognizing and avoiding scams. Here are some tips to protect yourself: 1. **Be Skeptical**: If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Always verify the source before providing any personal information. 2. **Don't Share Personal Information**: Never give out your Social Security number, bank account details, or other sensitive information unless you are certain of the recipient's legitimacy. 3. **Hang Up on Robocalls**: If you receive an unsolicited call asking for personal information or money, hang up immediately. 4. **Report Scams**: If you suspect you've been targeted by a scam, report it to your local Attorney General's office or the Federal Trade Commission. Let’s work together to slam the scam and protect our communities from fraud! ?? Helping America's attorneys general fulfill the responsibilities of their office since 1907
关于我们
The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) is the nonpartisan national forum for America’s attorneys general and their staff. NAAG provides a community for members to collaboratively address issues important to their work, including anticorruption, consumer protection, tobacco, and more. NAAG also provides resources to support attorney general offices in protecting the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution. What is an attorney general? All 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have an attorney general who serves as the chief legal officer in their jurisdiction, counsels its government agencies and legislatures, and is a representative of the public interest. Attorneys general represent their state and its residents. NAAG provides collaboration, insight, and expertise to empower and champion America’s attorneys general. NAAG’s mission is accomplished through facilitating information sharing among attorney general offices, providing strategic and legal consulting, planning and executing a continuing legal education program for state lawyers, hosting trainings and special events, publishing reports and newsletters, and serving as a liaison to the federal government. The Association offers outstanding support to the attorney general community as they serve the people in their jurisdictions and is guided by five core values: dedication; integrity; collaboration and cooperation; engagement and inclusiveness; and leadership, listening, and understanding.

Combatting human trafficking remains a top priority for Attorneys General across the states and territories. This month, the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and the Attorney General Alliance (AGA) are hosting critical events to raise awareness, strengthen prevention efforts, and enhance prosecution strategies in the fight against this pervasive crime. This week, NAAG partnered with THE NETWORK to convene a national discussion on addressing the illicit massage parlor trade. We are grateful to District of Columbia Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb for the warm welcome and to NAAG President and New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella for sharing his state’s proactive approach to tackling this issue. Later this month, the Attorney General Alliance will host a webinar to continue these collaborative efforts. Together, we are working to make our communities safer and support survivors. A special thanks to NAAG's senior counsel Gina A. Cabrejo for her exceptional leadership in bringing these efforts to life. #AttorneysGeneral #NAAG #AGA #HumanTrafficking #Prevention #LawEnforcement #VictimAdvocates #Prosecution #TheNetwork

The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) honors the life and legacy of Francis X. Bellotti, former NAAG President (1972–1973), who passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 101. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Bellotti was a steadfast advocate for civil rights, consumer protections, and environmental safeguards. During his tenure as Massachusetts Attorney General (1975–1987), he transformed the office into a model emulated nationwide. In recognition of his enduring contributions, NAAG established the Francis X. Bellotti Award in 2001. This prestigious honor is presented annually to a member of the Society of Attorneys General Emeritus (SAGE) whose work exemplifies outstanding service and furthers NAAG's mission. We extend our deepest condolences to the Bellotti family during this time. Mr. Bellotti's life was a testament to the power of service and humane leadership, and his legacy will continue to guide and inspire NAAG and the Attorneys General community for years to come. #FrancisBellotti #NAAG #AttorneysGeneral #Leadership #PublicService
