The National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED) was created as an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACO) in 1978. Its purpose is to develop the technical capacity of county government practitioners to professionally administer federally-funded affordable housing, community development, and economic development programs that benefit their low- and moderate-income households. Today, NACCED serves nearly 120 member counties, most of which are entitlement urban counties under the federal Community Development Block Grant program. NACCED also serves smaller counties and Associate members who are cities, consultants, non-profit organizations, and technology providers. NACCED is a persistent and persuasive voice in Washington on budgetary, programmatic, and regulatory issues pertaining to community development, economic development, and affordable housing.

The ACTION Campaign celebrates Veterans Day by honoring United States veterans and their service. Many veterans struggle to find affordable housing, but the #HousingCredit helps support veterans’ housing nationwide. In 2022, Chuck Austin Place, a Housing Credit property, opened in Yakima, WA. Named after a Marine veteran who served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, the 42-unit property provides formerly homeless and low-income veterans with safety, home, and community. Located at the site of the former Marine Corps Armory, Chuck Austin Place provides housing and medical services to veterans and their families, and includes amenities such as a community kitchen, an outdoor garden, and a veteran transportation program. Through the Housing Credit, America’s veterans can access the security and safety they deserve through stable and supportive housing. Join us online February 18-19 from 1-3 pm eastern. #LIHTC 101 will provide an introduction to Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 42 and low income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), and discuss how LIHTCHs make housing more affordable for low-income households.
