Earlier this week, Shawn Gremminger shared his thoughts on 340B programs with Lauren Weber of The Washington Post -- relative to Dr. Oz's nomination to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and his role as a health benefits company co-founder. "Many health benefit companies leveraging the 340B system are operating in a way that is “clearly an abuse of this program,†said Shawn Gremminger, president and CEO of the advocacy group National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, which works on behalf of employers who buy health insurance. Such companies act as intermediaries, turbocharging the number of 340B patients to benefit hospitals and companies, instead of following the original purpose of the law, Gremminger said. “At some point, federal policy leaders are going to catch up to it and say this isn’t allowed,†he said. “There is an enormous conflict of interest.â€"

The National Alliance Strategic Leadership Summit centers on our key priorities, aiming to drive meaningful market change for our members and stakeholders through greater healthcare transparency. We are committed to working collaboratively, aligning our strategies to shape a healthcare system that is both more efficient and equitable for all. No single entity, not even the largest employer, can transform the market alone. However, when unified in their expectations for market and policy change, these organizations hold powerful influence. This Summit will serve as a catalyst, providing an opportunity for our members and stakeholders to connect, amplify their collective influence, and leverage purchasing power to reshape the future of healthcare for America’s families and businesses.
