"Decades in the making, the legislation would eliminate a provision that reduces Social Security payments to some retirees who also collect a pension from jobs that aren't covered by the retirement program, such as state and federal workers including teachers, police officers and U.S. postal workers. It would also end a second provision that reduces Social Security benefits for those workers' surviving spouses and family members." https://ow.ly/RJsq50U9ore

As the Social Security Administration works on revamping the rules it follows to recoup overpayments made to individuals, it is reporting significant progress—reducing the number of affected individuals from about 46,000 in January to about 7,000 in September. https://ow.ly/RAtt50U9msX

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the Medicare Shared Savings Program (Shared Savings Program) continues to save Medicare money while supporting high-quality care. The Shared Savings Program yielded more than $2.1 billion in net savings in 2023 — the largest savings in the Shared Savings Program’s history. https://ow.ly/kHKF50TX8fa

Aetna axes some Medicare Advantage, Part D commissions: Aetna will no longer pay brokers for enrolling new members in some Medicare plans starting today. The CVS Health subsidiary notified third-party marketers on Tuesday that it will not compensate them for signing up customers for 25 Medicare Advantage products in California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, New York, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia, or for any Medicare Part D plans, said Ronnell Nolan, president and CEO of the trade group Health Agents for America.
