This past weekend, I was honored to have received a scholarship from the National Dominican Day Parade. The Dominican Day Parade, Inc. is a nonpartisan, nonprofit that organizes the annual parade, festivities, and education initiatives that promote the richness of the culture, folklore, and popular traditions of the Dominican Republic. As a proud Latina, receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. I hope it serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of representation and resilience, inspiring other Latinas to pursue higher education and not let any obstacles hold them back. Receiving this scholarship will help me in my journey to achieving my academic and professional goals and I am incredibly thankful for the support I have received from NatDDP. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the NatDDP Scholarship Co-Chairs Jose Martinez and Gregoria Feliciano, MSEd., SDA and the NatDDP Body of Directors chair Cristina Contreras, MPA, LMSW, FABC for believing in my potential and selecting me for this esteemed award. I hope to fulfill my duties as a scholarship recipient by excelling in my studies and making the most of this incredible opportunity. Congratulations to the other 42 scholarship recipients as well! It’s inspiring to see so many talented and driven individuals representing our Dominican community. I am proud to stand alongside you all, and I look forward to witnessing the amazing things we will accomplish together!
