The company has been designing and building ships in San Diego’s industrial heart since 1960 and is the only full service shipyard on the West Coast of the United States. Another year, another incredible show of support! We’re excited to announce that this year’s boot drive raised an all-time high of $5,371.55 for the Burn Institute! These funds will help save lives by funding burn prevention programs and supporting survivors through their recovery. As we close out #NationalEngineersWeek, NASSCO engineers are back for another round of Junkyard Wars! After last year’s thrilling debut, our teams were ready to take on the challenge once again, building race cars powered by nothing but a mousetrap and a bag of “junk." With creativity, teamwork, and engineering skills on full display, we’re proud to announce that this year’s champions are Team Error 404. ?? A massive milestone for the final ESB ship class! Our shipbuilders completed a 4-crane flight deck flip on the USNS Hector A Cafferata Jr. (ESB 8), maneuvering a massive 545-ton grand block through a carefully coordinated four-step process. Over the course of nine hours, precision, teamwork and expertise came together to make this operation a success.
