Imagine a Day Without Water... Behind every drop you drink is a journey of precision, dedication, and countless hours of work. From the moment it enters the system to when it reaches your hands, water undergoes an incredible transformation, ensuring it's safe and ready for you. As we celebrate a decade of recognizing the impact clean, reliable drinking water has on our day-to-day lives through #ImagineaDayWithoutWater, take some time to think of our neighboring states and cities currently without water due to the recent hurricanes and be thankful to be blessed with an abundant water source and clean drinking water at your fingertips. Yesterday, the MWS Waste Service’s Zero Waste team was awarded two grants from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation that will support efforts to achieve the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County Zero Waste goal. An Education and Outreach grant for $14,782 was awarded to develop a multilingual PSA to reach Nashville’s diverse communities about recycling. An Organics Management grant for $100,000 was awarded to support continued curbside collection of food scraps as part of the Food Scraps Pickup Pilot Program. Together, these grants provide MWS Waste Services added opportunities to improve programs that help reduce the waste sent to landfills by increasing recycling and composting.
