We are thrilled to announce that Nashville Humane Association has been selected to participate in the ASPCA Learning Lab Shelter Behavior Partnership!???? Earlier this month, some of our team members spent a week working alongside ASPCA experts, diving deep into critical animal behavioral care strategies. This exciting collaboration will help us provide even better care for the animals who come through our shelter and give our team the tools they need to thrive in their positions. As part of this two-year mentorship program, we will be integrating key strategies into our operations to enhance behavioral support for the animals in our care. This partnership will not only help prepare our furry friends for life in loving homes, but it will also support successful adoption outcomes. We’re so excited to bring these new insights and approaches back to our shelter and continue making a positive impact on the lives of the animals we serve. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this new, exciting journey!
关于我们
Nashville Humane Association (NHA) is committed to finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation and promoting the humane treatment of animals. Incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County, NHA is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. Our services and activities: Pet Adoptions: NHA places more than 4,000 healthy and temperamentally sound animals into loving homes each year. Animal Resource Center: NHA provides information and referrals to individuals calling with animal related questions daily. From animal care, adoption, laws pertaining to animals and more, we can assist! Humane Education: NHA personnel travel throughout Davidson County teaching the responsibilities of pet ownership and humane treatment for all animals. We also schedule group tours of our facility, educating people on NHA’s various roles in the community. Community Outreach & Spay / Neuter: Rover, our “Big Yellow Bus”, travels throughout Davidson County providing free spay and neuter for those who wish to have their pets altered, yet can’t afford it. Rover’s mission is to educate the community about proper pet care, in an effort to keep Davidson County pets healthy and decrease the number of unwanted animals. Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers play a vital role in enabling NHA to accomplish our mission. Volunteers serve in an array of roles from dog walkers to program and event assistants. Foster Care: Volunteers open their homes to foster sick and injured pets that require around-the-clock-care in a nurturing environment. Foster animals return to NHA as healthy, well-adjusted pets for placement in the adoption program.

Tennessee, we need your help!?? Don't let it get to this point... order your specialty license plate before your dog beats you to it (we know they’re fast, but c’mon, they can’t drive). We’ve got a chance to create our very own Nashville Humane license plate, but we need 1,000 sign-ups from Tennessee residents to make it happen, and we are currently at 476. Every dollar raised goes straight to the pets and pet owners in our community, helping keep animals fed and families together! So, let’s not leave it to your pet to take the wheel. Sign up today at https://lnkd.in/eBXUjFdY and show off your love for animals on the road! ????

Did You Know Nashville Humane is KultureCity Certified??? Adopters and guests at Nashville Humane Association who have sensory processing needs have additional accessibility and inclusion options available. Visitors to NHA have the option to use noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, verbal cue cards, and other tools intended to assist people who may experience sensory overload during their time at the shelter. In addition to the available tools and equipment, NHA has received KultureCity’s Sensory Inclusive Certification since 2023. KultureCity, the nation’s leading nonprofit for sensory accessibility and acceptance, has only certified four animal shelters in the United States. As a Sensory Inclusive Certified facility, Nashville Humane staff have also received special training to assist members of the public with sensory processing needs. Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD, and other similar conditions. One of the major barriers for these individuals is sensitivity to overstimulation and noise, which is an enormous part of the environment in a venue like an animal shelter. With this certification, NHA is better prepared to assist guests with sensory sensitivities in having the most comfortable and accommodating experience possible when visiting the shelter. So, how do you utilize this certification? When you arrive at Nashville Humane, head to our front desk and let a staff member know you’d like to use KultureCity during your visit. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions during this time or feel free to call us at 615-352-1010 before your visit. After you are done visiting, drop off your items at the front desk and (hopefully) take your new furry friend home! You can also download the free KultureCity App prior to visiting.??

We have BIG news!?? On World Spay Day, we are excited to announce a new program aimed at tackling pet overpopulation! Starting in June 2025, a partnership between Nashville Humane and Metro Animal Care and Control will offer affordable spay and neuter services to Davidson County residents through our ROVER program! This pilot program, created in response to the community's biggest need, will bring much-needed, low-cost services to reduce pet overpopulation and support animal welfare in our area. Our goal is to improve access to spay/neuter services, enhance the overall well-being of pets in Davidson County, and help combat overcrowded shelters everywhere. We want to give a special thank you to our dedicated staff and supporters across both organizations for making this initiative a reality! This has been in the development stages for a long time, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it has on Davidson County and beyond. More information coming soon!??

Thank you Bone Dry Roofing for hosting and Banfield Foundation for sponsoring our February Low-Cost Vaccine & Microchip Clinic. We were able to serve 117 animals in the Nashville community, keeping them safe, healthy, and out of shelters.??
Recently, Bone Dry Roofing had the honor of hosting vaccine and microchipping clinics in both our Nashville and Indianapolis markets. The turnout was amazing, and we’re proud to have played a part in making our communities safer for pets. ?? Nashville: We teamed up with the Nashville Humane Association to provide low-cost vaccines and microchips to local pets. 117 animals (87 dogs and 30 cats) received much-needed care, making it their largest vaccine/microchipping event to date. Huge thanks to our Nashville team for their hard work and dedication in pulling off such a successful event! ?? Indianapolis: Our Indy team partnered with the Indy Humane to host a clinic that served 276 animals (207 dogs and 69 cats) from seven different counties. It’s incredible to see how far-reaching these events have become. These clinics are vital for the safety and well-being of pets, ensuring lost animals can be reunited with their families. We couldn’t have done it without the incredible volunteers and support from our teams in both markets. ?? Thank you to everyone who volunteered, worked behind the scenes, and supported these initiatives. We’re excited to explore more ways to serve and give back to our communities! Check this awesome video recap that our incredible videographer Aaron Turner, captured from our Indy market.
