关于我们
The National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH) is the association of the chief executives of the college and university systems of public higher education in the United States. Formed in 1979 for the purpose of seeking improvement in the organization and governance of public higher education systems, NASH serves as a forum for the exchange of views and information among its members and on leveraging the power of systems to advance innovation and change in public higher education. NASH systems include multiple four-year institutions, and several also include two-year institutions. Together, public university systems educate approximately three-quarters of the nation’s students in public, four-year higher education and a significant proportion of students seeking two-year degrees. How these systems are organized—that is, multiple institutions operating with a single system governing board and chief executive—makes them particularly well-positioned to tackle issues critical to the future of their states. NASH’s areas of focus include: – Taking Student Success to Scale (TS3) – Student Success & Attainment – Institutional Research – Strengthening the K-Career Pipeline – Advancing Alternative Delivery – Student Mobility The National Association of System Heads and its partners have worked hard to form a network of presidents, chancellors, executive directors, and commissioners. Together, this group supports leaders and their peers in the unique roles they play. NASH and its affiliates boast: More than 40 years of collaboration System heads in 28 states Over 40 university systems More than 5.6 Million students represented Support for public multi-campus systems, which enroll 75% of all students in public four year colleges and universities

?? What does it mean to be a "Public Good U"? Earlier this month, leaders from across higher ed gathered at the The City University of New York Graduate Center for the “Public Good U” Conference—an event that brought together public university systems, faculty, researchers, and advocates to explore what it means for institutions to truly serve the public good in today’s world. NASH’s own Chief Academic Officer, Carleen Vande Zande, joined the System Heads Chat, contributing to a powerful conversation about the role of higher ed in advancing equity, access, and community impact. As a national network of public systems, we at NASH are proud to be part of this urgent and inspiring movement. ?? ?? Systemness in Action: The Power of Systems to Transform Higher Ed At #Superconvening2025, we kicked off with a bold call to action: Activate the Power of Systems to create a more accessible, resilient, and innovative postsecondary sector. ?? Accessibility – Removing barriers so students can move seamlessly, reducing costs, and creating inclusive learning environments. ?? Resilience – Adapting to economic shifts, demographic changes, and political pressures in ways individual institutions cannot. ?? Innovation – Thinking beyond the traditional model—leveraging data, partnerships, and technology to prepare students for the future of work. Roze Hentschell (Colorado State University System), John King (The State University of New York), and Tiffany Utsman Carpenter, MBA (University of Tennessee System) helped set the stage for this critical discussion, sharing how systemness is actively driving student success and institutional transformation across their networks. As our Superconvening theme emphasized, this was about action—mobilizing the Power of Systems to reshape higher education and improve student success at scale. Thank you to all who joined us for an incredible event. Let’s continue putting Systemness in Action! #HigherEd #StudentSuccess #EducationInnovation #SystemLeadership #PowerOfSystems

The National Association of Higher Education Systems 2025 Superconvening was amazing. Got to hear from the best of the best, including Chuck Welch, Nancy Zimpher, Daniel Greenstein, Jim Johnsen and more. Also got to celebrate Connecticut State Colleges & Universities’ Aynsley Diamond, Ed.D. and Steve Marcelynas being recognized for the incredible work they’ve done for the transfer process between Connecticut State Community College and our universities. They received NASH’s 2025 “Testing for Change” award for their leadership in improving student mobility, work supported by their participation in the NASH Improvement Community (NIC) on Transfer. Through efforts such as the Transfer Credit Alignment Policy, Transfer Council, and Universal Transfer Explorer, CSCU has streamlined credit transfers, saved students time and money, and increased statewide student success. Great to see the team receive the recognition they deserve! In all, the gathering reminds us how much power and impact higher education systems have in America. Couldn’t be more proud to be there with our colleagues from across the country to reinforce that. Thank you to Jessica Todtman and the NASH team for another successful event supporting the primary pillars of higher education in this country!
