CISA’s State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program has provided $1 billion to help state, local, and territorial agencies strengthen their cybersecurity defenses. NASCIO’s Alex Whitaker emphasizes that while this funding is spread thin across 50 states, it’s critical for supporting areas that need it most. “When it comes to the future, we don’t know,” Whitaker said. “These resources are important. We hope they don’t go away, and we don’t want to remove resources that will kind of potentially leave states in the lurch when it comes to identifying threats, detecting actual threats and preparing for the future.”
