Lifelines’ Earth Science Review Board met to provide feedback on a humanitarian logistics case for the Logistics Cluster. The goal was to improve real-time road accessibility mapping in Lebanon to enhance the logistical coordination of aid and support efficient route planning through their LogIE platform. ? Key recommendations included: - Data Layers: Leveraging SAR and optical imagery, particularly Sentinel-1 for terrain analysis and Maxar high-resolution imagery, to support real-time monitoring. - Local Partnerships: Integrating data from OSM and UNOSAT and exploring mobility proxies like Uber or social platform data to detect route blockages. - Secure Data Sharing: Safeguarding data with restricted access to protect sensitive routes. ? Thanks to our expert panel – Brian Perlman, Thomas Di Martino, Kelli R., and Joel Myhre – for their invaluable expertise and contributions. ? ?? A Reminder: Humanitarian organizations looking to leverage satellite data in their initiatives are invited to submit projects for review to the Earth Science Review Board. Our multidisciplinary experts are here to guide impactful decision-making in Earth science applications. ? Submit your project here: ?? https://lnkd.in/dzxg6w-A
