Congratulations to the Meals on Wheels Metro Tulsa Hardesty Service Center for winning an AIA Eastern Oklahoma Merit Award for Commercial Architecture! The mission of Meals on Wheels is to provide nutritious meals, wellness checks, and caring contact to the elderly, disabled, and homebound in Tulsa and surrounding areas. Having outgrown their dated facility and dreaming of expanding their reach, we worked with Meals on Wheels Metro Tulsa to give them a new facility that could increase the daily meal production operations and promote community interaction and awareness. The new Hardesty Service Center has enabled them to increase the served meal capacity from 300,000 per year to 1,000,000. Fun Fact: This new facility is such an upgrade from the previous location that the entire old facility would FIT INSIDE the new commercial kitchen! By 2030, one in five Americans will be 60-plus. Meals on Wheels Metro Tulsa is now positioned to serve over one million hot meals a year, ensuring that no senior is lonely or hungry. The Village Flats is a three-phase development nestled amongst the well-established Central Park townhome community bordering the park at 6th and Peoria. The phase I apartment buildings were finished in 2020, the phase II mixed-use building opened in 2023, and now, the final phase III townhomes are completed. Phase III completes the final build-out of the neighborhood with a group of 10 rental townhomes. These impressive townhomes are two stories with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and 2,551 SF of living space. The modern farmhouse interior design features white oak hardwood floors and beams, along with designer finishes and closets to die for. This purposeful infill development blends seamlessly with the existing neighborhood and is a beautiful canvas of inspired incremental, human-scale design.

For several weeks in October, our designers worked together to create this spooky masterpiece. An exercise in creative play, this project was an excuse to design and build something with only the constraints of cardboard and glue. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but this model is massive and filled with unique touches from many hands in the studio. If you are in the area, stop by and check it out—the model will be on display through the end of next week.

Park(ing) Day is a global project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into social spaces. Narrate participated in this year’s event to bring awareness of creative possibilities within the urban environment and to give back to the local Tulsa community through a community mural installation. We believe community is a team activity, and we invited everyone to come together and take part in symbolically building our Tulsa community, piece by piece. Participants took a few minutes to get creative and color a tile, adding their individuality to the diverse uniqueness of the mural. Thank you to everyone who participated, from the planning and preparations of the Narrate team to Good Grain Construction for the custom frame and table, Shaw Contract for the carpet squares, and to each person who colored a tile!
