Day 2 of the 2025 NAPNAP National Conference is beginning here in Chicago, but before things get back into full swing, let’s take a look at yesterday’s action: ?? The conference began with a kickoff session led by our president Daniel Crawford, who spoke about some of the challenges and opportunities facing NAPNAP and pediatric health care at large and presented national awards to several recipients. ?? A keynote presentation led by Ruth Kleinpell followed, with Ruth discussing how we can elevate PNP practice to advance pediatric health. ?? Attendees broke out into smaller groups as concurrent sessions began and continued through the afternoon. ?? The afternoon wrapped up with an opening reception in the exhibit hall, with attendees speaking to over 100 exhibitors. ?? In the evening, a screening of SHIFT Nursing’s documentary "Everybody’s Work", which examines the impact of structural racism on patient outcomes, concluded Day 1. It was an incredible way to start the conference, and attendees are awake bright and early to keep up the energy here in Chicago on Day 2 as the 46th National Conference on Pediatric Health Care continues!

Today, nurse practitioners are more at risk for legal action. After all, they’re part of a medical team who can diagnose, treat and prescribe to patients, making them more vulnerable to the threat of a malpractice suit. NPs: Our partner Nurses Service Organization’s professional liability insurance can help you practice with peace of mind. Today, NAPNAP released an official statement denouncing the Trump administration's plan to reopen a detention facility for immigrant children and families. Not only are detained children more likely to experience severe short-and long-term physical and mental health effects, this move also violates the 1997 Flores Settlement Act. ? A study in JAMA Network Open highlights that outdated race-based lung function measures have led to under-diagnosis of asthma in Black children. The research shows that using race-neutral formulas increased diagnosis of reduced lung function by 2.5 to 4 times in Black children, while there was no effect on testing among white children. Between 38% and 44% of children who were not eligible for further asthma testing using the old formula became eligible under the race-neutral equation. Full story: https://lnkd.in/eHk5FiSG
