Naperville Children's Business Fair

The Naperville Children’s Business Fair is a one day event for children ages 5-14 to experience entrepreneurship hands-on - by starting their own businesses and selling products and services in a farmers market style setting. In 2021, 71 children participated with 56 businesses, selling items from paintings to pastries to programming games. Over the next four years, the fair has incubated 290+ businesses run by over 500 kidpreneurs selling to 3,500 visitors. This year, the fair is returning with over 150 young entrepreneurs starting 90+ businesses. Support them on August 3, 2024 from 10am-2pm at Naperville Central High School! In Naperville School District 203, formal business education is only offered to high school students. This is a problem, as the district’s 10,473 elementary and junior high students miss out on early exposure to the business field, especially when business is the most popular college major. Even for students who want to pursue other fields, entrepreneurial education teaches valuable skills for daily life such as finances, time management, and effective communication. By hosting a one day Children’s Business Fair targeting kids ages 5-14, we hoped to expose elementary and junior high aged children to entrepreneurship in a hands-on way. Through developing their own businesses, kids are able to learn through experience, effectively becoming "kidpreneurs".
