Two views of another in a series of greater than 150mm aperture, f1.25, blazed spherical diffraction gratings produced by the team at Nanophorm, LLC. The left photo is during SWLI inspection and happened to capture the beautiful spectra from multiple orders. We achieved the specification of better than lambda/10 RMS WFE in first order and 2 nanometers RMS roughness. Large compound parabolic reflector for collecting Cherenkov radiation from an enormous particle accelerator. This was #cnc machined and finished by #diamondturning from an 80kg billet of aluminum. Finished it is approximately 12kg! The reflector profile has sub-micron accuracy. It is rewarding to contribute to the advancement of #physics. #spdt #optics

Blazed spherical diffraction grating. RSA 6061 substrate. Greater than 150mm aperture, more than 12,000 lines, each just as important as the next. A really difficult application that we are proud of. The relatively large aperture and radius required a unique engineering approach that took a great deal of effort to perfect.
