After Northvolt's shocking collapse last month, some industry experts are arguing that the secret to beating Chinese batteries lies in the tech – specifically, in alternatives to lithium-ion batteries. It's true that innovation will be key to toppling China's battery hegemony. But lithium-ion batteries aren't doomed (as the article below acknowledges). In fact, there are plenty of emerging technologies aimed at making them lighter, cheaper, and more energy dense than ever.
