This summer, we attended the AIA New Orleans Design Awards to celebrate excellence and innovation in the local design community. We were honored to receive the Unbuilt Architecture category award for The Boscoyo House, a 3D-printed housing concept that combines traditional shotgun and mid-century modern styles, featuring improved stormwater management and a resilient design for affordable housing. 3D printed construction seamlessly integrates readily available materials with rapid construction techniques, facilitating the swift production of multiple homes to meet demand. By placing multiple homes on the 38’ x 100’ print-bed lot and creating shared exterior spaces, the design aims to foster a unique sense of unity that reflects the tight-knit communities New Orleans is known for, while also ensuring cost-effective housing options that maximize land use efficiency. This approach offers two main exterior environments: communal grounds for neighborhood engagement, and a private garden porch area separate for plantings, gardens and single refuge.
