Style for Everyday: New to You - True to You

关于我们

Nancy Dilts brings her passions – personal style, positive body image, and the environment – together to help her clients feel great about how they look, using an economically and environmentally sustainable approach at Nancy Dilts Wardrobe Consulting. I spent close to 20 years in environmental education and outreach where everything about my work involved raising awareness about environmental issues and teaching about how our behaviors impact the environment. I have been shopping new-to-you at consignment stores for years – not only because I LOVE high-quality clothing, but also because shopping consignment significantly reduces your impact on the environment. Plus, at consignment stores, you can get that high-quality clothing – designer/top brand garments that will last – at a fraction of the cost. I have had my own journey in finding my personal style and realizing that how you look impacts how you feel. I feel privileged to support others in their body image journeys. I never tire of working to help people feel better overall by feeling great about how they look, and love the thrill of clients embracing their true selves – inside and out – and expressing themselves with personal style. In addition to my services in personal styling, wardrobe consults, and personal shopping, I am available for presentations on developing personal style, creating a more functional wardrobe, and new-to-you shopping.

  • Happy Spring, everyone! Let's talk about spring transition outfits and the Spring/Summer Pantone color palette for 2025. I discovered a wonderful palette from Erika Firm that showcases just how fun this season's colors are. There are lots of beautiful, rich pastels this year. Remember, you don't have to buy new clothes to stay on trend with the seasonal colors. Instead, you can shop your own closet! I rummaged through my wardrobe and found some great pieces. For example, I have a blouse that features many of the trendy colors. It includes the beautiful Crocus, Deja Vu Blue, and a dark yellow called Misted Marigold, which I really love. I also found some white sneakers with a cute Crocus stripe! There are so many fun ways to incorporate these spring colors into your outfits. Even though it can still turn cold in Minnesota, I’m staying cozy in a heavy shacket that is also in Deja Vu Blue. It keeps me warm and adds a nice touch of pattern mixing. So don’t hesitate to shop your own closet! It’s more affordable and much more sustainable.?

  • I participated in an International Women’s Day event featuring women-owned businesses hosted by One Good Deed, a fantastic non-profit that organizes meaningful acts of service - and kindness - in our community. It was a great day with such incredible energy in the room. Michelle Christensen, founder of One Good Deed, even provided all the vendors with water and delicious snacks! Check out One Good Deed and sign up for one of their kindness events! One Good Deed

  • March is Women's History Month, with March 8th being International Women's Day. I recently read that some calendar apps are removing International Women's Day from their calendars due to directives from our executive branch of government. I bought this shirt with a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsburg back in 2016, hoping that by now it would be out of style, but unfortunately, it’s still relevant. Even though International Women's Day might not be officially recognized in some places, it's essential that we honor women's equity and recognize the strength and perseverance of women who have worked throughout history to create a world where women are treated fairly and have the same opportunities and rights as everyone else. Let's all take the time to celebrate and reflect on the remarkable women in our lives and the impact they have made. They are truly awesome. Celebrate well! ??

I had the BEST time visiting Nine Lives Thrift in St. Paul—a well-curated, fun, and mission-driven thrift shop that supports our unhoused community. Every purchase here makes a difference! And of course, a big shoutout to Roxanne for making the experience even better! If you’re in St. Paul, this is a must-visit thrift spot. Have you been to Nine Lives Thrift?

  • Why is building a sustainable wardrobe so important for what I do? Fashion should feel good—not just for your body, but for the planet too! I assist clients of all genders and identities in feeling confident about their appearance. Whether we shop from your own closet or explore consignment stores in the Twin Cities for "new-to-you" items, my approach emphasizes economic and environmental sustainability. Clothing is a powerful tool for transformation. It can elevate your mood and foster a sense of intention. Sometimes, the simple act of choosing clothing that feels authentic and fits well—regardless of your body type—can make all the difference. This not only boosts confidence but also instills a sense of strength. Are you ready to get dressed with confidence every day? I would love to help! Special thanks to Inayat Ali Moledina for the fantastic video clip.

  • Throughout my teenage years and much of my adult life, I struggled with a negative body image that led to feelings of shame and a lack of confidence. I hid behind oversized clothing, using it as a shield, until I ultimately discovered my voice. This negative body image affected every aspect of my life—school, work, social interactions, and self-expression. It was a painful existence. By the time I turned 40, I was married to a man who loved me for who I am, and I had a smart, observant four-year-old daughter. I realized that if I wanted her to love her body, I needed to change my own mindset. Clothing became a powerful tool for empowerment. It fosters confidence, encourages self-expression, and reflects self-worth. The way we dress impacts how we feel, and I love helping others use clothing as a means of empowerment so they can feel fantastic. Dressing intentionally is a way to say stop to the cycle of negativity in a tangible, visible way that also helps you bring your best self to the world. It’s called?“enclothed cognition”?– your clothing affects your confidence levels and overall psychological state. It enables you to accomplish your goals in work and life, allowing you to show up as your true self and shine as your best self. Every person deserves that.?
