Mental health advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so all North Carolinians can live fulfilled lives.
关于我们
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) North Carolina is a nonprofit organization, governed by a volunteer board of directors. It's mission is to provide support, education, advocacy and public awareness so that all affected by mental illness can build better lives. NAMI NC is also a membership organization and is a part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Membership in the 34 affiliates in North Carolina consists of family members of people who live with mental illness, individuals who live with mental illness, friends, and professionals. Affiliates typically have monthly support meetings/or educational and business meetings. When mental illness strikes, it is usually surrounded by confusion and isolation. Support groups can provide an opportunity to talk with other people who have “been there” and who understand what you are facing. General meetings have speakers on issues important to members. NAMI NC's biggest fundraising event is NAMIWalks, the largest and most successful mental health awareness and fundraising event in the U.S. Through NAMIWalks' public, active display of support for people affected by mental illness, it is changing how Americans view persons with a mental illness. This is leading to ensuring that help and hope are available for those in need. NAMI also hosts an Annual Conference, regional conferences, CIT and other NAMI Programs. "ADHD and GAD factors tend to exacerbate and feed into one another. This does not have to be a negative thing, however, as we will see below. Sometimes the treatment for one condition can have a positive effect on the symptoms of the other condition simultaneously." https://lnkd.in/gAWaMASr
