Mental health isn’t a Democratic issue or a Republican issue. It’s an American issue. Make your voice heard. Pledge to #Vote4MentalHealth during this election. https://lnkd.in/gTu9wAfW Election season can be stressful: the constant news updates and push notifications, difficult conversations with friends & family members, negative ads featured anywhere you are and everywhere you go. Find ways that work for you to practice self-care: Get elections news and updates from nonpartisan sources. Media outlets with partisan views tend to have more sensationalized coverage, overemphasizing the bad things another candidate may or may not do. Follow trusted news sources like the?Associated Press?or?NPR, where the news will be reported in a balanced and factual way. Silence breaking news notifications or delete news apps. While it’s important to stay informed, consider turning off push notifications for breaking news. Instead, consider intentionally visiting a news website or subscribe to daily newsletters. But also allow yourself to take a break from the news when you need. Take breaks from screens. Avoid “doomscrolling” — scrolling through social media and news feeds, where there’s always something new and negative to be found. Consider limiting your time on social media platforms or in news apps, or keeping your phone in a different room while you sleep. Spend your time doing things for you. Do things that make you feel connected to your values like volunteering your time or visiting your place of worship, or activities that help you feel a sense of flow, like learning a new skill, creating art, exercising, making music, or solving puzzles. Acknowledge your negative feelings. Recognize what specifically is causing your heightened stress or emotions and find what you need to feel better. Show yourself compassion. You are not alone in feeling stressed or overwhelmed ahead of the elections. If you feel comfortable, talk with friends, family or professionals for support. Be kind to yourself.

A NAMI-Ipsos poll conducted in January 2024, and focused on full-time workers employed at companies with at least 100 employees, found that most Americans believe it’s appropriate to talk about mental health at work but may not be prepared or feel comfortable to do so. Employees who are less comfortable talking about their mental health at work are more likely to report feeling burnout and their mental health suffering because of work. The same is true for managers who feel their workplace isn’t giving them the proper resources to discuss mental health. Among employees who say they would be uncomfortable sharing about their mental health at work, many cite stigma, lack of communication and retaliation as key reasons why. The vast majority (86%) of employees say they are satisfied with their ability to be themselves at work. 4 in 5 also say they are satisfied with the emotional support they receive from their coworkers or supervisors on the job. https://lnkd.in/gBjTmms9 #MentalHealthAtWork #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceCulture #MentalHealthMatters #EmployeeSupport #HealthyWorkplace #MentalHealthAwareness

Together, we raised over $530,000, and with funds still being tabulated, our goal of $580,000 is within reach! Funds raised at the walk allow us to continue to provide no-cost support and education to our community, create a better understanding of mental illnesses to reduce discrimination, and support our advocacy at the legislature. Donations to the walk are still being accepted: https://lnkd.in/gZmCmtqx It’s worth checking if your employer matches donations. It can significantly boost your fundraising impact. Over 100 organizations have a matching program. So far, we have received matching gifts from Microsoft, UnitedHealth Group, Securian, Avivo, Prudential, and Cigna. Check out our Double Your Donations Guide, which lists over 100 organizations with a matching program. Note: This list is not exhaustive; please check with your employer to see if they have a matching program. https://lnkd.in/gAxFTvkV
