?? Because YOU believe... This week, at a support group it was suggested, "Let's go around and say what we are thankful for..." Our leaders were almost emotional, when one by one, those in the group began saying, "I am thankful for NAMI" - And it is because YOU believe... ?? Because YOU believe there is always hope. ?? Because YOU believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. ?? Because YOU believe there is power in sharing our stories. ?? Because YOU believe in a tomorrow without stigma. ?? Because YOU believe in these truths, we can provide spaces for individuals and families to find community, resources, and the strength to keep going. WOW! Our Annual Celebration of Hope dinner in Delaware County was a night packed with inspiring stories and community spirit! More photos are coming soon but we have to thank our awardees, our sponsors, our keynote speaker David Rife, and all of YOU who contributed to a spectacular night of hope - your passion and presence strengthens our collective mission to improve the lives of those with mental health conditions, as well as their friends and families, through support, education, and advocacy. As our keynote David Rife said, "The stigma associated with mental illness has to be forefront of the fight that we take on every day. While I’m just “hamburger guy,” I thought, ‘What can we do to make sure no one ever goes through what we have had to go through?’ The answer? We started talking. We fight the stigma. We tell our story. We talk. We’d like to sincerely thank the Ohio Wesleyan University Circle K Club for inviting NAMI Mid-Ohio to their district meeting and helping us create more of our Mental Health Care Kits as their service project! So many of them were interested in getting more involved with mental health initiatives and helping to end the stigma around mental illness. FYI - Circle K is a friendly, international collegiate version of Kiwanis International and emphasizes fellowship, leadership, and service.

Election season can be stressful: the constant news updates and push notifications, difficult conversations with friends and family members, negative ads featured anywhere you are and everywhere you go. That’s why it’s so important to find ways that work for you to practice self-care and navigate the election-related stress this year. ??Get elections news and updates from nonpartisan sources. ??Silence breaking news notifications or delete news apps. ??Take breaks from screens. ??Spend your time doing things for you. ??Acknowledge your negative feelings. ??Show yourself compassion. You are not alone in feeling stressed or overwhelmed ahead of the elections. If you feel comfortable, talk with friends, family or professionals for support. Be kind to yourself.
