JUST IN: Congratulations Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer on her nomination to serve as Secretary of the Department of Labor. If confirmed, she would be the second Latina to hold the position. A California native, she had already made history by being the first Latina to be elected mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon, and is one of Oregon’s only two Latinas ever to be elected to Congress. We look forward to Congresswoman Chavez-DeRemer bringing her background to this top-level position and carrying out her functions as Secretary of Labor with integrity and strong leadership. ??
