Last week we open sourced the code for Athena Crisis under the MIT License. Together with Polar.sh we are funding $10k worth of contributions. We already received many improvements for the game! It's never been done before to be this open before a game is even fully released, and I'm excited to push game development with JavaScript forward. Christoph had a great time in Prague talking about open source, his career, engineering management and Athena Crisis. Check out the full conversation:
Ever wondered why #JavaScript uses array.includes instead of array.contains? How does this connect to the downfall of #MooTools? We discussed this and much more with Christoph a few weeks ago. If you couldn't make it, you're in luck. The recording is live now! https://lnkd.in/efNUbJy5
We held our first in-person event on Monday. Christoph Nakazawa, a veteran of the modern web, took us on a journey through many topics. Some highlights include: ?? The origins of frontend frameworks as we know them today. ?? The evolution of MooTools and its failure to outcompete jQuery. ?? How his team successfully revitalized Jest and brought it to new heights. ?? An in-depth look at the hiring process at Meta. ?? Life after big tech: the complexities of starting an indie game studio. We are immensely grateful to everyone who was able to attend! The overwhelmingly positive feedback we've received has energized us, and we're eager to bring you more insights from the open-source world. For those who couldn't make it to the event, don't worry! We'll soon have the event recording available, along with a podcast episode featuring Christoph discussing similar topics. Stay tuned and sign up for our newsletter to ensure you don't miss anything. https://lnkd.in/e8wrhDAB Once again, a huge thank you to Mews and Alma Career Czechia for making this event possible.
You can now try a demo of Athena Crisis instantly and directly on https://athenacrisis.com. It's also currently at the top of Hackernews, so if you like it, please upvote and keep it there ??♂?
We officially kicked off our Codacy Pioneers Mentorship Program recently with words from mentor Christoph Nakazawa, CEO of Nakazawa Tech KK. He talked to our Pioneers about what open source means to him and how the OSS community became a springboard for future success.
