We’re excited to announce that Edward Ciccone has been promoted to Director of Engineering! In his previous role as a software engineer, Eddie played a pivotal role in developing critical systems, including an advanced staking mechanism for blockchain validators, a modular mining infrastructure utilizing Kubernetes, and leading Web3 application development for Bittensor and Commune blockchains. Now, as Director of Engineering, he will take the lead in guiding our brilliant engineers, expanding our blockchain projects, hiring new talent, and continuing to push the boundaries of AI and blockchain innovation. " Diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance." - Vernā Myers This quote echoed in my mind as I attended The State of DEI — an event that explored the future of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Tech, Capital, and Corporate spaces. The representation was outstanding, with insightful contributions from leaders like Joshua Johnson, Joshua Meyers, Fellicia Foster, Mila Kellen Marshall P.hD, Marquis Miller, and Tessa Flippin. Each of them brought next-level perspectives on where we are and where we're heading. The event sparked deep discussions on how banks are increasingly comparing themselves to tech firms, the growing risks over the last two years, and the all-encompassing role of AI. The ability to engage, leverage AI as entrepreneurs, and the ongoing efforts by Space Continuum LLC are all shaping the future. Yet, with women only making up 26% of the VC space and 19% as investment partners (according to Forbes), the question remains: How do we break these networks and increase these numbers? As the only woman at Nakamoto LLC, I'm reminded of the imposter syndrome that often lingers, but I’m also immensely proud of the encouragement and support I’ve received from them. It’s a mix of emotions - happy to be paving the way, yet aware of the work still to be done. I showed up, and I'll continue to show up because that's how we evolve. A huge thanks to Nakamoto for believing in me. We’re always on the lookout for great people to join us - especially women. To all the solopreneurs out there: make your point upfront, even if it’s not immediately understood. Keep that single-minded focus on your goal. Remember, "NO" is just the first step to "YES." Get mentors, consultants, and SMEs in your corner. And never doubt yourself. I had the pleasure of meeting some incredibly strong and intelligent women at the event, which was both inspiring and empowering. A huge thanks to Kimball International, the event has benefited from their fantastic space and thoughtful setup, which added to the overall experience.
