President Trump recently outlined his tax priorities, including a push to eliminate the carried interest loophole. At the same time, the House and Senate lawmakers introduced the Carried Interest Fairness Act to end tax advantages for investment fund managers.? Currently, private equity, venture capital, and real estate fund managers can have their earnings taxed at a lower capital gains rate (20%) instead of the higher ordinary income tax rate (up to 37%).
