??Invasive Species Management 3-Day Workshop & Fair ??The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society and the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians are excited to announce an Invasive Species Management in-person training on April 28-30th, 2025 at the La Jolla Tribe Campground, Pauma Valley, California. ??During this 3-day field training, participants will learn the elements needed in a management plan to successfully manage invasive species, how to conduct inventories for invasive species, and control techniques. There will be classroom and field elements, including inventories and tree planting. Please come prepared for field work and with a laptop or notebook to work on preparing an invasive species management plan. ?On April 30th, there will be an Invasive Species Management Fair event that will provide information on invasive species and funding for invasive species management. ??For more information visit our events and training page: https://lnkd.in/gkpyhd29

The Society’s purposes are charitable, educational, scientific and cultural, as well as the following: To assist in the facilitation and coordination of inter-tribal communication in regards to fish and wildlife matters, including issues with treaty rights, court cases related to fish and wildlife, and hunting and fishing regulations. To protect, preserve and conserve the wise use and management of tribal fish, wildlife, and recreation resources. To educate Native Americans involved in fish and wildlife management, policy decision makers, community members and others similarly dedicated to tribal natural resource management, of the best management practices. To provide administrative support, expertise and advice to tribal governments, relating to tribal fish, wildlife and recreation resources. To improve the general welfare of tribal people through educational, charitable, as well as fish and wildlife enhancement activities. To provide professional publications and promotional activities for disseminating information about Native American fish and wildlife resources to members, organizations, public officials, and the general public.

???Geospatial Migration Movement Mapping In-Person Training at the United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) Campus in Bismarck, ND ?? April 11-12, 2025 ??The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS) and United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) are excited to announce a geospatial migration movement mapping in-person training at the United Tribes Technical College. In this training, participants will have the opportunity to explore animal movement data and complete analysis to answer critical management questions. We will also cover the collection of GPS collar data from wildlife and how it helps inform conservation management. ?It is REQUIRED that registrants have a basic understanding of ArcGIS Pro: how to take csv formatted movement data and transform it into a shapefile, project data sets, create shapefiles, and have a basic understanding of raster datasets. ?Registration closes March 28th, 2025 ?? Gwen grew up in the desert of the Southwest with parents working to restore depleted soil and grow food with a limited water supply, which contributed to an early awareness of the importance of natural resources. She comes from a background in education and non-profit management with a passion for connecting people. She holds a master's degree in communication management from the University of Denver and a certification in climate education from Climatebase. In her free time, Gwen loves playing with her two little daughters, reading, and is learning to watercolor the desert plants that make her feel at home.
