North American Fire Protection, is a national design/build fire sprinkler contracting company headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN. We provide expertise in the design, fabrication and installation of fire suppression systems including; fire pumps, dry systems, preaction systems, cold storage systems, ESFR systems and wet pipe systems. We cater to industrial markets; including cold storage, food process, manufacturing, distribution and warehouse facilities. We take pride in being “Easy to do Business With”. Do you love decorating the tree with your family or setting up your Christmas village on the mantle? Whatever it is, we hope the holidays bring you joy and allow you time to make sweet memories with the ones you love. Here at NAFPCO we want to help ensure that your holiday is not only joyous, but safe as well. We’ve gathered some tips to keep your home and loved ones safe and protected from fire this holiday season. After all, our goal always is to protect people and property. Kitchen Safety According to NFPA, 44% of all home fires reported in the US are caused by cooking. ?? Never leave cooking unattended ?? Keep things clean, a buildup of fat or grease can catch fire ?? Be careful with common flammable cooking ingredients; flour, sugar, oils, cooking alcohols, milk and creamer ?? Do not put a grease fire out with water, keep a lid nearby to smother a small fire ?? Keep clothing, kitchen towels, decorations and other objects away from the stove ?? Make sure a fire extinguisher or fire blanket is handy in the kitchen ?? Keep batteries in smoke detectors fresh and test regularly Decoration Safety The electrical safety foundation states that lights and decorations cause $8.9 million in property damage each year due to fires. Ensure your home and loved ones protection by implementing these fire safety tips: ?? Do not leave holiday lights on for a prolonged amount of time ?? Make it habit to turn lights off when leaving your home or going to bed ?? Inspect light wires to ensure they aren’t damaged ?? Don’t plug in too many lights in one outlet ?? Avoid open flames, consider using battery operated candles ?? Be careful with decorations like tinsel that can be made of PVC and be highly flammable ?? Be sure lights do not touch flammable materials like curtains, boxes, bags and wrapped packages ?? When decorating indoors, keep decor away from any heat sources ?? Make sure smoke detectors and other safety equipment have proper power and are accessible ?? Keep paths and doorways clear and free from hazards ?? When using outdoor lights and decor, make sure they’re rated for outdoor use! Tree Safety Christmas trees, although beautiful, pose a safety risk when it comes to fire hazards. Follow these tips to keep your tree beautiful and your home safe.? ?? Christmas tree lights should not be left on for prolonged amounts of time or over night? ?? Make sure any attached lights or electrical wires are not damaged ?? Be careful when placing your tree in your home, keep it away from heat sources and flammable fabrics like curtains ?? Ensure stockings, packages and curtains do not rest to close ?? When choosing a real tree be sure needles are firmly attached; dropping needles is a sign of a dying tree. ?? Real trees need to be watered frequently, to keep it moist and prevent it from drying out
