Gladys Krigger Washington didn’t just work in philanthropy — she transformed it. Gladys led with a deep belief that real change happens when communities define their own solutions. In our new blog, we celebrate Gladys’ legacy and explore her influence on the sector through the lens of her friend and mentee, William Buster, who shares heartfelt reflections on her life and work. What’s one lesson from Gladys’ leadership that resonates with you? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #Leadership #CommunityPower #CapacityBuilding #GladysWashington

We take fiscal sponsorship a step further! Nafasi Fund’s new model of fiscal sponsorship advances temporary incubation with a low-fee structure so that grant dollars make a larger impact. Our courageous partners (grantee organizations) who spearhead the transformative efforts for Black communities receive tailored administrative and infrastructure support for their projects, robust technical assistance to help them move to sustainability (if they desire), and a space to focus on their well-being.

We hosted our first staff hub strategic meeting at the TMG headquarters in Huntsville! It was a day filled with laughter, innovation, and creative brainstorming as we worked together to make TMG the best it can be. At TMG, we value collaboration and connection beyond the work itself. For many of our staff, this is the first workplace where they’ve truly found alignment with their values. We will be sharing more photos from our staff hubs soon so stay tuned ?? #TheMoriahGroup #TMG #TMGTurnsTen #WeDoItDifferently #HuntsvilleAL

It takes immense courage to demand transformation and change for young people, their families, and their communities despite the racial trauma and dehumanization they endure. We exist to ensure that people of color heal and thrive by providing the tools, resources, services, and funding they need. Through Nafasi Fund, our fiscal sponsorship, we will continue to support the unique needs of Black-led organization for another 10 years and more. The Moriah Group is turning 10 this year! We are celebrating a decade of advocating for thriving communities and thriving youth — a mission with a proven impact spanning across our initiatives. To commemorate a decade of Disrupting Dehumanization and Reclaiming Our Humanity, we're launching a year-long campaign with the theme: “We Do It Differently.” Our partnership-driven work truly highlights how TMG transforms the lives of YPOC and their communities differently. We are eager to reflect on our successes and share our plans for the future throughout the year. Follow along as we dig into the archives, spotlight our projects, and more! #TMGTurnsTen #WeDoItDifferently #TheMoriahGroup #TMG #ThrivingCommunities #ThrivingYouth

On International Women's Day, we celebrate TMG's visionary leaders, Dr. Rhonda Tsoi-A-Fatt, CEO & Founder, and Lakesha McDay, CDP, President. Their dedication to empowering young people of color and their communities serves as an inspiration to our staff and partners. With a commitment to unearthing the roots of oppression and dismantling the systems that allow it to grow, they have tirelessly advocated for transformative change. Their leadership is characterized by a deep understanding of the challenges faced by YPOC and their communities and an unwavering resolve to create equitable opportunities. While visiting the Ayoku Healing Retreat Center site in Murfreesboro, TN, Rhonda and Lakesha talked about their goals for TMG in a video series on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/gRtQeDMh #TheMoriahGroup #InternationalWomensDay #BlackWomanLed #BlackLeadership #LeadersOfColor #YPOC #POC?

?????????? Honoring Black Male Educators & Advocating for Our Future There's something special about a Black man leading a classroom. Black male educators are invaluable to our communities, shaping minds and creating transformative learning experiences. I had the honor of attending the 5th Annual Georgia Black Male Educator Appreciation Day at the Georgia State Capitol, hosted by Educational Entities [ educationalentities.com ], to celebrate and uplift these incredible educators.? The event’s start was delayed due to a Georgia Senate hearing on SB120, a bill that threatens to eliminate DEI initiatives in academic settings. I’m glad attendees were made aware and able to establish a presence during community testimonies—because our voices matter.? I was grateful to bring gifts to the honorees on behalf of BMEsTalk - a Nafasi Fund fiscally sponsored initiative. This was an opportunity made possible through the leadership of Ayodele Harrison. BMEsTalk is committed to providing spaces where Black men in education can connect, reflect, and grow, through experiences like the Catalyst weekend retreat and a 10-month Incubator, which I’m currently participating in.? Shout out to Jonathan Leon, Ed.D. of The Moriah Group and Aireane Montgomery of Georgia Educators for Equity and Justice Inc. for their presence and engagement at the event. Special thanks to Jason B. Allen for his leadership in coordinating this celebration and to Ayodele Harrison for the invitation to represent BMEsTalk in honoring these educators.? Our work is far from over, but together, we continue to build, uplift, and advocate for the future of Black male educators and the students they serve.? #BMEsTalk #BlackMaleEducators #Leadership #DEI #EducationMatters #Advocacy #Community #WeDoItDifferently #NafasiFund

After a career in community organizing, law, and compliance, RARE Coaching & Consulting LLC founder, Aiko Bethea, was motivated to pursue equity work full-time with the increase of highly visible reports of police brutality against the Black community. RARE Coaching & Consulting also powers the RARE Chances for RARE Leaders initiative, which focuses on supporting leaders of color by curating safe spaces for them to connect. As we know, DEI initiatives and trainings are getting cut across all industries.
