??What if everything you were taught about prehospital fluid resuscitation in trauma is due for a major rethink? This week on the Florida EMS Webinar, Peter Antevy MD and Tanner Smida are honored to host Dr. Jason McMullan, who will present the brand new National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) position statement on Fluid Resuscitation in Trauma. This document challenges some of our most deeply rooted habits in the field. Here’s a preview of what might surprise you: ? More fluids ≠ better outcomes ?? Permissive hypotension isn't one-size-fits-all ?? Warming IV fluids might be more critical than you think ?? Giving fluids without hypotension? You could be doing harm. This is a game-changing document that every EMS medical director and field provider needs to understand. Jason will break it down and answer your questions. Hope to see you there—and bring a colleague who still believes “hang a liter” is always the right answer. ?? #EMSLeadership #TraumaResuscitation #PrehospitalMedicine #NAEMSP #EMSWebinar #JasonMcMullan #CriticalCare #EMSProtocols #ParamedicEducation

Wow! A mother and her unborn child were saved by the Colorado Springs Fire Department! It’s another reminder of how important innovative and well led EMS systems are to a community. EMS has made its case to be classified as an essential service - we’ve come very far from the days of “you call, we haul.” The “Normal Saline Titanic” is making its final voyage, especially in trauma, where Freeze Dried Plasma + LTOWB (if available) will become the standard. As a bonus, plasma will also be used for Severe TBI, Sepsis, and Burns. Freeze dried plasma should be available in the US in less than 12 months, already used widely in the military and across Europe. What about this for an EMS slogan, “When you bleed, we have what you need!” ??
