“1 in 3 Americans say they struggle to pay their water bills. What good is having clean water if you can’t afford to drink it? That’s why we need to establish a permanent water assistance program that can help families struggling to pay their water bills.” As the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act, Radhika Fox, former Acting Administrator for the U.S. EPA Office of Water, highlighted the sobering reality that too many Americans face. NACWA continues to advocate for establishing a permanent Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to provide to relief to those who need it most.
