Join us on Tuesday November 19 from 6:00pm-8:30pm CST for our 2024 Restorative Justice Week Circle in recognition of International Restorative Justice Week, November 17-23. Experience the power of coming together in Circle, where everyone has a voice, and connection is at the center. Whether you're new to Circles or have lots of experience with them, this is a perfect opportunity to witness community, relationship building, and unity in action. Since 2020, hundreds of people from across the country have come together in NACRJ’s Online Community Sharing Circles to dialogue about current events, harms, needs, and opportunities. In collaboration with Circle Keepers nationwide, these Circles foster a sacred space where we can engage in deep listening with one another. The event will kick off with several Circle Keepers sharing their insights and perspective on Circle to initiate a deeper level of reflection. The majority of our time together will be spent in small group circles. This summer, NACRJ recorded a new video that explores NACRJ's founding, growth, and impact through the voices of its founders and past and present Board Presidents. This nine-minute video features Dr. Michael J. Gilbert, Dr. Fania Davis, Professor Joanne Katz, Dr. Mark Umbreit, Mrs. Sheryl R. Wilson, and Dr. Teiahsha Bankhead. It is a tribute to the dedication and efforts of all those who have helped shape NACRJ into the organization it is today—our founders, board members, advisory council members, NACRJ members, conference attendees, and countless committees and volunteers. We hope you find this video inspiring and a testament to the incredible work being done to further community and restorative justice across the U.S. and beyond. Ted Lewis, a beloved member of the NACRJ Board of Directors, passed away on July 23, 2024, just two months after learning of his cancer diagnosis. A dedicated member of the NACRJ community for over a decade, Ted served on the inaugural Advisory Council from 2014 to 2017 before being elected to the Board of Directors, where he remained an active and vital leader until his passing. Ted's contributions to the restorative justice movement were profound and far-reaching. His work with faith communities, especially through The Restorative Church Project, exemplified his commitment to bridging the values of justice and faith. For this reason, he was posthumously honored with the Bert Thompson Faith-Based Award at the 9th National Conference on Community and Restorative Justice in Washington, D.C., on August 1, 2024.
