    Almost 8 years ago, I took a huge leap of faith and launched Nacre Consulting LLC. Many thought I was crazy, but I knew God was calling me into a new season of service. What I didn’t fully realize was the incredible impact this journey would have on me; both personally and professionally. I am profoundly grateful for every client, every partner, and every opportunity to serve others. Yes, we are a growth agency, and yes, we help businesses increase revenue; essentially, we help them make money. But what I’ve come to understand is that it’s about so much more than financial growth. It’s about impacting people. Individuals, families, communities, and even entire municipalities. When we help businesses grow, that growth ripples out, affecting everyone around them. It’s a responsibility we take seriously, and it’s the heartbeat that drives our work every single day.     Customer service in the US is largely broken. Many will blame the younger generation, phones or social media. The real problem is laziness and prioritization. Lazy owners/leaders that don’t mandate a culture of service. I am a product of two service-business entrepreneurs. (My parents) They were entrepreneurs before it was “cool” to say you were an entrepreneur. They were just small business owners that took pride in their work and the services they offered. If they provided a service that wasn’t top notch, they would get replaced. Their business success rested on customer satisfaction. Not much has changed today, except owners/operators allow for sub-standard service to be the norm. It’s not the 16 year olds fault that you didn’t train them how to greet your customer. Although it’s easy to blame them. It’s not your entry level customer service reps fault that instead of training them on their first day(week) of work you just threw them into the fire without discussing your service expectations. If your employee is on their phone when they are supposed to be serving customers, it’s your fault for not setting the standard in your training and inspecting what you expect. Hear me when I say this: If you run a business and you have customer service issues, it’s your fault. Your business, your standard, your fault. Instead of scouring QuickBooks and ranting about needing to make more money, take a step back and focus on your customer experience. Your time IS spent on what you value most. If you don’t train for customer service excellence and don’t train for service expectation levels consistently, you don’t care about customer success. You’re the problem, not the employee providing poor service. The truth hurts. Good news… …you can change anytime you want.
