The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is an organization of journalists, students and media-related professionals that provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of black journalists worldwide. Founded by 44 men and women on December 12, 1975, in Washington, D.C., NABJ is the largest organization of journalists of color in the nation. Each year, NABJ awards nearly $100,000 in scholarships and internships to college and high school students nationwide, as well as fellowships for seasoned professionals. The NABJ Media Institute provides professional development and technical training for black journalists at venues across the country. NABJ is headquartered on the campus of the University of Maryland-College Park.

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach live newscast production, including production of Temple’s award-winning weekly newscast, Temple Update, and associated broadcast and digital productions for TUTV, which has been awarded Best College/University Television Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) twice in recent years. We seek applicants who can teach across our curriculum, including courses in writing basics, professional development, and media entrepreneurship. ? Because undergraduate teaching is the primary responsibility of this position, applicants should demonstrate a deep commitment to and interest in pedagogical practice by providing a teaching statement, summary of teaching experience, and indications of mentoring and advising success. Applicants should also summarize professional experience in broadcast and news production. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the department and to Klein College through service, which may include developing curriculum, serving on faculty committees, and advising student organizations. ? The Department of Media Studies and Production has approximately 500 undergraduate students across two majors and three concentrations. Faculty members may contribute to Klein’s interdisciplinary degree programs and certificates. ?
