?? CMS Submits Draft Rule to Strengthen ACA Federal Marketplace ?? CMS has submitted a draft proposed rule to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), focusing on strengthening oversight, improving affordability, and ensuring greater integrity within the ACA federal exchange. NABIP welcomes these efforts to bolster consumer protections and curb fraud and misuse, critical issues that independent agents have been raising for years. During the last election season, individual market agents were unfairly scapegoated for previous failures by CMS to safeguard the federal exchange — despite independent agents raising these concerns for years. In contrast, state-based exchanges have experienced significantly fewer fraudulent enrollments, highlighting the need for policy and technology improvements at the federal level. NABIP remains committed to ensuring that the ACA federal marketplace is safe, secure, and fair — where consumers are protected, and tax credits are properly applied. As we monitor the rule’s review process, we look forward to engaging with CMS to provide feedback and advocate for solutions that strengthen the marketplace for all stakeholders. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor these crucial issues. ?? Executive Order on Price Transparency: A Win for Healthcare Consumers! NABIP applauds President Trump’s recent Executive Order prioritizing healthcare price transparency which is a critical step toward lowering costs and giving healthcare consumers the power to make informed decisions. Under this directive, federal agencies will enforce rules requiring hospitals and insurers to disclose actual prices, not estimates, helping healthcare consumers compare costs and find the best value for their care. Here is the link to the Executive Order: https://ow.ly/OltX50V7RJg Why This Matters: ??Price transparency helps reduce healthcare costs by promoting competition. ??Healthcare consumers can compare prices across hospitals and insurance plans before seeking care. ??Employers can save an average of 27% on common healthcare services by shopping for care more effectively. While price transparency is a crucial component of healthcare reform, it must be paired with strong consumer protections. NABIP’s Healthcare Bill of Rights ensures: ??Access to licensed health insurance agents who guide healthcare consumers through complex decisions. ??Affordable, high-quality healthcare options tailored to individual needs. ??Protections against surprise medical bills and unfair cost-shifting onto consumers. Join us in supporting policies that put healthcare consumers first!
