I had the pleasure to volunteer last night at the NABA Inc. Richmond 35th Anniversary gala. It was a beautiful moment to sit in a room full of black excellence and catch up with friends I studied with at VCU! Fun fact: The first African American woman CPA in Virginia was in the room!

Thank you for attending! It’s incredible that we had the opportunity to meet and honor Dr. Ruth Coles Harris as Virginia’s first African American woman CPA continues to inspire us all! We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing the impact you’ll continue to make in shaping future minds!
Attending the NABA INC. Evening of Honors 35th Anniversary was truly inspiring. I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Ruth Coles Harris who is Virginia’s first African American woman to become a Certified Public Accountant. It was a powerful reminder of the responsibility we have to encourage and empower young minds, to pursue excellence in every field. I was also grateful to share this memorable evening with my Program Chairs, Nikki Rhue-Hicks, DBA, Mariah Dar as well as former Brightpoint Accounting graduate Tiandra Threat as we look forward to using the valuable insights gained to strengthen our Business programs at Brightpoint Community College. Yesterday, it was a nice experience at NABA’s 35th Anniversary of Evening of Honors Banquet ???? I wanna thank KPMG for selecting me for a scholarship. I’ve grown so much over the last two years because of opportunities such as this. I will continue to strive for greatness. The night was extra special because I was along side my grandma. She got to learn more about the amazing organization that’s been so critical to my professional development. Next December, I will be a first-generation College graduate. I don’t take these experiences for granted at all. Wendy Lewis NABA Inc. Richmond Norfolk State University
