The North American Association of Indian Students is a non-partisan umbrella organization that seeks to represent students of Indian nationality, origin and background. NAAIS functions as an umbrella organisation for India and India-related student societies in the United States and Canada that aims to bring a unified voice of India's diaspora youth, on a single, international platform, promote Indian culture and further the USA-India relationship by fostering a dynamic youth-led leadership ecosystem. We hope to collaborate with many governmental and non-governmental organisations, working passionately towards our goal of fostering a community of Indian students alongside furthering the North-America-India relationship through its students and youth. We strive to facilate a community which allows young Indian diaspora to contribute to India's social, political and economic development both when they are studying and/or working in North America, and if/when they eventually return to India. We also hope to facilitate a dialogue between people who wish to know more about India.

We know you know that elections are tomorrow. We also know you know how NAAIS and Indian American Impact have focused on bringing out the desi student vote in battleground states this year. But do you know that elections matter to you, regardless of whether you’re eligible to vote or not? Tomorrow is not just a presidential election, it’s also local and state representatives and issues on the ballot. International student on a scholarship? Your state government might have a lot to with the funds for your scholarship. In a lab working on your PhD? That lab just might be sponsored by the federal government. Feel unsafe in your college town? Being connected to your local representatives and administration matters. Whether you’re on an F1 visa or green card or you’re undocumented, the Census decides Congress apportionment, funding, and access to a lot of the conveniences you have. It matters who’s in power and who represents your city, district, state, and the country even if you’re just student on an F1 or in the process of acquiring citizenship. You have just as much of a stake. If you can’t vote, make sure you’re informed on the issues and get your friends who can to vote

A graba that’s also promoting the desi vote to come out in SOUTH DAKOTA!?! Congratulations to the ISA at USD for hosting such a phenomenal event at University of South Dakota’s campus to promote a community for Indians and ensuring there was a civic engagement component to it! We’re grateful you made NAAIS and IMPACT a part of it! Hard to imagine that Vermillion, South Dakota is now home to a growing number of international Indians coming to study alongside a steady number of Indian-Americans. NAAIS and @iaimpact made sure to reach out to communities that are often overlooked due to their remoteness. Just because it’s rural America doesn’t mean there’s a solid representation of Desis!
