It is the only national membership organization dedicated to strengthening the field of environmental education and increasing the visibility and effectiveness of the profession. Meet the 2024 Youth Innovation Challenge Winners: Krishna Pentayah & the Sov Lanatir Team from Mauritius Team Sov Lanatir aims to restore mangrove forests in Mauritius damaged by the 2020 MV Wakashio oil spill. This project addresses biodiversity loss and promotes environmental stewardship through community engagement and education. It integrates hands-on restoration activities, such as propagule collection, nursery establishment, and seedling planting, involving local residents and fisherfolk in conservation efforts. By combining scientific research with community involvement, this project creates a replicable model for mangrove restoration and environmental education. ?? GEEP is a partnership between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Taiwan Ministry of Environment, and the North American Association for Environmental Education. We looked for solutions that were innovative, feasible, informed by research, and included an environmental education component.
