So prepare to be sick of me sending y'all reminders to submit the awesome work I see you posting here. (Early deadline is this Friday) The Internet is a wild and wonderful place and The Webby's celebrates the creative people and projects who make it so. I can't wait to amplify and hype up the content - websites, podcasts, videos, campaigns, etc. - that makes us think, share, and act. NAACP Senior National Director, Advocacy | Empowering Communities, Championing Diversity, Organizing for Justice
As election season wraps up, many of us are reflecting on the results and asking important questions about what comes next. I’m grateful for the reminders from mentors and friends to take time to rest, reflect, and imagine what’s possible, even as we prepare to protect our rights, organize around our goals, uplift new leaders, and turn local wins into impactful action. In this moment, I’m reminded of our shared strength and unity, especially as we face new challenges to civil and human rights. America will soon realize that we have more in common than we may know—and that common ground is where our progress begins. Thank you Democracy Now! Productions for having me on yesterday to discuss the impact of the racists text messages sent to students and young people across the country. The precedence that this type of behavior is telling of what is to come from the newly elected Trump administration. When people show you who they are . . . believe them the first time.
