Thank you to everyone who attended and to our partners who shared their expertise and time to this informative event.
Thank you to all who attended Rhode Island Healthcare Engineers' Society tour and panel discussion: Transforming an Acute Care to a Behavioral Health Hospital: The Eleanor Slater Hospital System, Regan Building. Together, we walked through the complexities (and opportunities) of this project including: - building an airplane while flying: navigating a large-scale addition to the scope of work while actively in the construction phase of a project. - $28M redesign in five months – a rapid, collaborative effort upgraded electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and telecom within an active construction site. - the IPD effect: working through a lump-sum contract with an IPD mentality - spirited collaboration and true teamwork from all stakeholders, the architect, engineers, TOCCI and key subcontractors. We can't wait to bring this high acuity, 78 bed behavioral health hospital to the Rhode Island community. A big thank you to our project partners n|e|m|d architects, inc., STV, IMEG, DCAMM + RI Dept of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) and panel participants. Mehdi Khosrovani, AIA, NEMD Architects Loren Witzel, NEMD Architects Finn Chappell, PE, IMEG James Fratto, TOCCI Tim MacKay, AIA, CCM STV Wayne Arruda, TOCCI Todd Tinkham, State of RI, BHDDH Frank Wierszchalek, LEED AP, DCAMM #HealthcareInnovation
