This past week, STV was honored to host Secretary Richard Charest of the RI Executive Office of Health and Human Services as well as Director Richard Leclerc and the leadership from the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals for a tour of the gut renovation of the Regan Building on the Eleanor Slater Hospital Campus. This transformative renovation will provide the modern medical facility they need to enrich the treatment and quality of living for so many deserving patients and their families.?With a mix of inpatient and outpatient programs, the Eleanor Slater Hospitals will continue to set the standard for medical treatment in an environment where dignity, individuality, and respect are emphasized. n|e|m|d architects, inc. Steady progress continues at Eleanor Slater Hospital as we tackle challenges from top to bottom. In the penthouse, significant demolition work is underway to replace key mechanical units, with the team removing insulated panels for access and ensuring they can be reinstalled seamlessly. On the roof, Superintendent Edward Farrell + Assistant Superintendent David Gomes' carpentry expertise has been critical - designing protective enclosures for sensitive equipment and building a secure platform to safely access hard-to-reach areas. On levels six through three, rough electrical and plumbing inspections are signed off, walls are being insulated and closed, and framing for soffits and radiant panels is taking shape. Infrastructure is the backbone of any successful project—especially in healthcare. Our current renovation of an 80s-era hospital focuses on bringing essential systems, like cooling, electrical, and fire protection, up to modern standards. On this 2-million sf, 15-building Rhode Island state campus, the roof antennas play a critical role in safety, security, and communications. To ensure uninterrupted operation, our team, led by Superintendent Brian Eisenhaur, devised ingenious support structures to allow for full roof replacement under the existing equipment stands. Working alongside n|e|m|d architects, inc. + IMEG , James Fratto talks about how we're ensuring this facility can deliver for years to come.
