WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER — Among 16 Community Action agency directors and their weatherization managers alone, the NCCAA network can boast almost 500 years of combined weatherization program experience. Training and experience are crucial in managing this federally funded program and Community Action leaders have deep technical expertise, hard-won experience in problem-solving, dedicated staff for compliance and reporting, as well as knowledge and experience with supporting low-income households. Our experience ensures that weatherization achieves its objectives: improving energy efficiency, reducing utility costs, and improving the comfort and safety of our clients in their homes. Weatherization works best when we work together! Why then, will the NCDEQ not engage in two-way communication with our agencies? The #NCCAA is requesting two-way communication with the #NCDEQ. This issue is deeper than federal budget cuts and requires resolution. ???????????? ?????????? this and help us advocate for change at NCDEQ. Here's how to contact Governor Roy Cooper about this issue. E. Almost 3,000 low-income households are waiting for Weatherization Assistance across North Carolina. North Carolina Community Action organizations are without contracts and at a stalemate with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. "NCCAA officials have tried to address flaws in the weatherization program with the NCDEQ, but our input is ignored," says NCCAA Board President and Mountain Projects Executive Director, Patsy Davis. "We understand federal budget cuts, but the issues are much greater - and include transparency and inconsistent funding allocations across our state. These problems started well before the 2023-2024 federal budget reductions were announced." Watch our press conference livestream: https://lnkd.in/ebs9shMi. Reach out to Governor Roy Cooper and ask him to intervene at NCDEQ: E.
