#FieldTrip #Friday!!! ???????? #AlessandroHighSchool #Welders ended the month of February with a trip to California State University-San Bernardino for the #ConstructionCareersandApprenticeshipResourceFair #AlessandroWelders shared the building with 100’s of CTE students across the region. They received information about the process of getting into an apprenticeship with trades such as the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) the #IronworkersUnion and other city and county public works career choices… The Tesla Coil shocked some sense into some of my #kids ?? Super cool demonstrations from the IUOE and their #heavyequipment #simulator Many questions were asked and answered and some strategies were discussed about the next steps in their career pursuit. I’m really thankful the group of professional #Electricians from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) who put on a demonstration on how to nail the #inferview. The #softskills that are often overlooked were highlighted by the seasoned #journeymen #electricians and they provided two examples of #interviewing. The terrible one was easily dissected and noted by many of my students, and the solid one was also recognized… We invested in many events to draw out the #courage from all these future #tradesowkers, and develop their soft skills throughout this year. Especially with the #FrameWork #Challenege we completed from SkillsUSA early this year… Today made me #proud to hang out and represent our #pathway with them. Bonus points of the day, my wife Shanna is a registered chaperone for our district, so naturally she is my first choice for my support when we hit the road ??
