A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Mission of Central Coast Ocean Adventures Foundation (CCOAF) is to utilize adventure through sailing and the sea to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) comprehension, environmental stewardship, teamwork, self-confidence, and nautical skills for the communities of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties with a special focus on youth.

On June 29th, the Channel Islands Women's Sailing Association hosted Adventure Sailing Day in partnership with the Channel Islands Yacht Club, Mystic Whaler, and the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. First, forty girls between the ages of 9 and 14 learned about sailing and women in maritime history. Then, the girls (and their parents) all went sailing, many of them aboard Mystic Whaler where they took part in experiential education. Such a fun day! #adventuresailday2024

CCOAF is proud to be a partner of the Santa Barbara Channel Whale Heritage Area! The Santa Barbara Channel has become the ninth Whale Heritage Area in the world. This designation highlights the region’s commitment to promoting responsible ecotourism, providing more ocean educational opportunities, supporting ongoing research and conservation efforts, and honoring the timeless cultural connection we have to whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Our sailing classroom, Mystic Whaler, provides local youth with the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Channel and the chance to marvel at these treasured marine mammals while expanding their knowledge and understanding of the world they live in.
