A new addition to the North County landscape. Congratulations City of San Marcos, CA
The City of San Marcos held a ribbon-cutting?ceremony earlier this month to celebrate the completion of the Creek project, the largest project in our City's history! The event recognized the culmination of decades of planning, hard work, and collaboration that have made this project a reality. Partnership was a big theme throughout this project, and this is especially evident in its funding. To minimize any financial impact on San Marcos residents, the City applied for multiple state and federal grants for project funding. After submitting numerous grant applications, the project received funding from 13 agencies which allowed the City to bring the vision of the project to reality, without a new tax measure or impact to the City’s general fund. We also want to thank San Marcos community members for their patience and collaboration throughout construction. We couldn’t have finished this project without your support! The City of San Marcos has been selected as a finalist for the Golden Watchdog Award in Cities from the San Diego County Taxpayer’s Association for being a responsible steward of public funding through their efforts on the Stay Safe San Marcos initiative. Launched in August 2024, the Stay Safe San Marcos initiative is a partnership between the City of San Marcos, CA, the San Marcos Unified School District, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Office San Marcos Station. The initiative is focused on education and safety measures for bike and e-bike riders and includes a required safety course for students riding bikes to school.
