关于我们
Our relationship with money is complex. It is also intuitive. Finance, as it is today, has conditioned us to second guess our choices. We at SALT, think it is time to reassert agency. We say reassert because nobody needs to give us anything when it comes to money or the acumen to make decisions about it. It is inherent. Like ‘salt to taste’.

Entrepreneurs do crazy. My crazy was to travel through India’s tier two towns and meet women entrepreneurs in peak summer 2023. Why? Because it wasn’t lost on us that the relationship between women and money is more twisted than we thought, even after decades of globalisation, growth and access to higher education. After collecting interviews and data from over 300 women entrepreneurs, we felt a lot better. To put it simply, it is a glass-half-full kinda situation. You can cry about why more women are not doing it, or feel good about the ones who are doing it and take some learnings from them. I chose to do the latter. And then, magic happened. Shilpa Rao and Rajesh Bansal of Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) came forward to co-author this White Paper and FICCI FLO released the paper in Bangalore on 2nd May. In an excellent conversation about the subject, Anuradha Ramachandran talked about confronting questions on gender bias in funding and Bindu Ananth spoke about how storytelling was integral to making this woman come alive. We don't have solutions, but we resolved to muddle through it and get there…someday soon. To a world where a product like Niramai from a founder like Geetha Manjunath scales and gets valued without any bias or perception of extra risk! Thank you Paroma Chatterjee for your candid conversation about facing and solving bias in finance (more power to you??). Thank you Shraddha Rj Jindal for that honest portrayal of life as a privileged daughter, who gets married young, fails college, raises family and comes back to inherit a business and challenges! women who will inherit wealth will have greater ability to change things and we hope more of them to do it!! The audience nodded in empathetic agreement to Deepa Muthukumarasamy talking about putting her head above the 'darkness-phase' post marriage and doing anything and everything?until she successfully built Some More Foods. may your tribe grow. Yes, gaps persist-capital, data, visibility, safety, network, and care gaps. Conscious and unconscious biases exist- age bias, location bias, asset ownership bias, location bias, scale bias, risk averseness bias, goodness bias and expectation bias. And concerted efforts need to be made to make sure India does not lose out on this massive opportunity to create inclusive, women-led growth.
