This team is incredible! Thank you to everyone at our station who has put in the long hours this election season, and for all the work you will do on Election Day in exactly one week to inform our viewers in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire. Stay tuned!
One week until Election Day ??? and I am so proud of the team of journalists at NBC5 working long hours to inform voters of their choices this year - including this all-woman team (producer Sophia Venturo, director Patricia Visceglia and EP Shelby Lincoln) in the control room during our final live debate. It takes a coordinated effort from news, creative services, production & engineering to pull this work off behind the scenes and we’re ready to finish strong in November!! ????????

Incredible work by our NBC5 team, including but not limited to Jack Thurston, Liz Strzepa, Tyler Jankoski and the very talented Sophia Venturo! It is always so exciting to do a live production, and we are so happy to be able to serve our excellent audience in Northern New York!
All of us at NBC5 are proud to have been recognized by the New York State Broadcasters Association for outstanding small market evening newscast for our 4 pm broadcast live from the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid on February 1. We provided special reports from the historic Herb Brooks Arena through 6:30 pm that evening. Producer Sophia Venturo expertly blended daily news coverage from our studio in Vermont with extensive field anchoring and reporting from me, Liz Strzepa, and chief meteorologist Tyler Jankoski in New York. It would not have been possible without the hard work of our *whole* news, photography, and sports team, led by Michael LaFlesh and Caitlyn Kuntz, and our dedicated production staff led by Collette Mathsen. And we can’t forget the vital logistics knowledge from Erik Pedtke’s engineering department and the on-location excellence of Brian Damm’s creative services team. Remote broadcasts are challenging to pull off and exhilarating to be a part of. So it’s really nice to be recognized by our peers in the broadcasting industry for the community-based efforts NBC5’s general manager, Ryan Rothstein, has been encouraging us to do more and more of. I strongly suspect Sophia’s many talents will be recognized with more awards in the years to come, so as we say in our business, “stay tuned!” cc: Kyle Grimes & Hearst Television P.S. A special thank you to the Olympic Regional Development Authority for hosting us that evening!

Thank you for everything Tyler Boronski!
My time is up at NBC5 ! When I first decided in high school that I wanted to pursue a career in media, my goal was to one day be a full-time TV reporter. NBC5 helped me accomplish that, so I will always be grateful that they took a chance. Also, thank you to the Channel 5 viewers. I appreciate how kind everyone in this region is. I had a chance to meet countless of you out in the field these last 2 years. We do what we do to keep you informed and also tell your stories. This career is wild, and you never know where it takes you, but I’m glad I can add Vermont as another one of my homes ???

Congratulations on the big news Jackson Stoever! We know you are going to do incredible in this new role!
After two years of producing our newscasts, most recently our 5:00 and 5:30 shows, I am excited to announce that I will be transitioning from behind the scenes, to in front of the camera! Later this month, I will begin reporting as the NBC5 team's newest Multimedia Journalist. I'll still get a chance to produce on the weekends, and will be taking over our evening broadcasts. Thank you to the team for taking a chance on me and for the continued opportunity to try something new. Can't wait to get started! Hearst Television

Casey Reagan it feels like longer than one year in the best possible way! We are so happy to have you as part of the team. Thanks for being our "get stuff done ?? "
One year at NBC5 in the books ?? When I knew it was my time to leave the food and beverage industry, I did not just want to apply for any job. There were SWOT Analysis, conversations with friends and family, a lot of time on LinkedIn/Indeed, and moments to reflect on which direction I wanted to take my next steps. Enter an Administrative Assistant position at WPTZ. This last year has truly been a combination of chaos and comfort. There are moments that I feel like all of my previous experiences have prepared me for this role, and some where it is as if I'm starting from scratch. However, every single department has been welcoming and supportive since day one. I joke that I'm the "Get Stuff Done Shark" the way I'm constantly circling the office asking questions in an attempt to find solutions, knowing no matter who I end up working with, there is always someone ready to help. You know you're making an impression when you remind coworkers you have been here less than a year and the response is "Huh. Feels like longer...I mean that in a good way!" Special thanks to Ryan Rothstein for having "a good feeling" from the time we first met and shout out to Michael Cusanelli for sending me directly into his inbox. Cheers to year two at NBC5!

We are so proud of your accomplishments Jackson Stoever!
NBC5 hosted a Staff Connect last week for colleges and universities in Vermont and Northern New York to come check out what we're all about. I had the chance to catch up with my former advisor, Jerald Swope and mentor Allison Cleary from my alma mater, Saint Michael's College and talk about my career growth at the station since I graduated two years ago. Thank you to Jen Harriger, Michael LaFlesh and Caitlyn Kuntz for allowing me to be a part of this!
