Peggy Scott and Katelyn Mary Skaggs had a great time representing the Leader at Missouri Press Day at the Missouri School of Journalism. It was an awesome day of conversations with passionate journalism students. Also, such a fun surprise to meet a few who grew up reading the Leader! A big thank you to Elizabeth Conner Stephens for putting together a fantastic event that celebrates the future of our industry. We’re always excited to share about local news and connect with the next generation of storytellers.

If you picked up this week’s Leader, you might have noticed something a little different. Our masthead is green! This is a fun St. Patrick’s Day tradition we do only once a year, swapping out our usual blue for a festive touch. We love keeping this bit of tradition alive and celebrating with our readers. Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us at the Leader!

The Leader was thrilled to take part in the inaugural Festus Mardi Gras Parade! We love seeing new community events bring people together, and this one was a huge success. A big shoutout to Taytro's for planning and organizing such a fantastic event. We cannot wait to see this tradition grow!

We had a great time at the Jefferson College Career Fair, talking with students about the many opportunities in local journalism. From reporting and photography to design and advertising, newspapers offer exciting careers that keep communities informed and connected. It was inspiring to see so many young minds interested in storytelling. Who knows? We may have just met some future journalists for the Leader!
