Honoring American Heroes Who Sacrificed Everything! MY CREDIT UNION has been a steadfast partner of Flags for Fort Snelling, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring veterans by placing an American flag at every headstone in Fort Snelling National Cemetery over Memorial Weekend. This tradition, revived in 2015 by founder Joanne Malmstedt, had been dormant since the mid-1980s due to the cemetery's expansion. In 2018, with the support of MY CREDIT UNION and other local businesses, the organization successfully placed flags at each of the 200,000+ headstones with a flag - this hadn't been done in over three decades! This next year looks a little different as the organization faced a significant setback when roughly 50,000 flags were damaged by mold due to heavy rainfall during Memorial Day weekend. These flags, stored at MY CREDIT UNION's Richfield location, are now in need of replacement. At a cost of $1 per flag, Flags for Fort Snelling aims to raise $50,000 to ensure every veteran's grave is honored in 2025. MY CREDIT UNION continues to support this mission by providing storage facilities and assisting in fundraising efforts. If you would like to contribute to this cause to uphold the tradition of honoring our fallen heroes, donations can be made directly through the Flags for Fort Snelling website.
